How not to Protect a Child - Mandalorian Chapter 16

In the real world this moment means 'oh shit who did we give the child to?'

What's with that Home Invasion in Cobra Kai?

The ending that shouldn't be, a truce, because Sam was approaching.

A bullying story requires flying under the radar of all adults – they should not have any reason to fully intervene. That is so we get the satisfying resolution of the bullied gaining confidence, learning to stand up for himself which then leads to gaining everyone's respect.

If adults were in the thick of these kinds of stories then all they will do is file complaints, maybe police, and lawsuits. And yes it could get worse that lawsuits.

Warrior Nun (Netflix)

Deep in the inner recesses of the Roman Catholic Church is the Order of the Cruciform Sword, guardians of an an angel’s halo, wielded by the Warrior Nun. Since the Crusades the halo bearer has lead fellow sister warriors in a war against demons.

The halo gets passed from warrior to warrior through the centuries until lately it ended up with a civilian that no convent, much less a secret paramilitary one, would want.

Dark (Netflix) (2017, 2019, 2020)

Think Back to the Future, Groundhog Day, and the series Counterpart; all swallowed, chewed, grinded, spat out, and presented as good spaghetti, for lack of a better analogy. Dark is the most convoluted time travel story I have ever seen.

Recommended to me as a German Stranger Things, Dark is far from it. Only a small town vibe would be shared by both series and no more.

Counterpart (Starz) (2017)

There is a fine line between dreams and reality, it's up to you to draw it. ~ B. Quilliam

Quotes like the above have always given the fiction writer reasons to create parallel universes. As any geek will know decisions are the catalysts in creating an alternate reality. Anyone not into fiction would see only a self-help advice.

Counterpart is about 2 different earths living in a classic Cold War atmosphere. The doorway is even conveniently set in a German city – Berlin, considering the theme. A city that should have been one and the same but because of a decision somewhere, sometime, they’ve grown to be very different.

The Defenders (Netflix) (2017)

I’ve seen it before, 4 times before; or 5, since Daredevil had a season 2. Watching the Defenders is like watching every Netflix MCU series, again, only this time 8 episodes long. The end conclusion is even the same: the Iron Fist is the weakest link.

(Spoilers ahead)

Designated Survivor (ABC) (2016)

I never got to see Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan ascend to the Presidency in the movies so I had high expectations that Designated Survivor can scratch that itch. The show’s lead character Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland), Housing and Urban Development Secretary, rose in a similar manner as Jack Ryan – an attack that completely destroys the Capitol Building wiping out the American leadership that was in it.

13 Reasons Why (2017)

The first thing that came to mind was the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer. Somehow tapes were made naming the 13 people who killed somebody which seems to be the voice on the tapes. Suicide disclosure on the trailer notwithstanding there was an implied darker reason to it all.

It made some sense. 13 people, un-sportsman like odds, one girl dead – got to be a murder conspiracy. After the first episode I realize the operative word was ‘reason’ hence the title 13 Reasons Why.
